FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is uOS open source?

The source of the uOS app is published on GitHub so anyone can read it and check the encryption, and About uOS links to the exact version you run. When uOS leaves alpha, it becomes fully open source.

Can I self-host uOS on my own servers?

Yes. With a self-hosting licence from UltimaOS you run the same uOS on your own infrastructure — the same apps, client and encryption, operated by you. Each release ships a signed manifest so you can verify what you deploy.

How do I know the code served is the code published?

Each release is signed. Anyone can verify that the code served at uos.sh is the code we published, and self-hosters can check the signed manifest of every file.

Is there an open-source alternative to Google Workspace?

uOS is a private, encrypted workspace whose source is public and which you can self-host — a sovereign, open alternative to Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.
