We can't give what we don't have. That sentence is the foundation of uOS. It is also the reason ChatControl cannot apply to our architecture, the reason we cannot be compelled to produce plaintext we don't hold, and the reason we cannot be forced to backdoor our encryption.
uOS is a post-quantum, end-to-end encrypted web operating system. We do not store plaintext, we do not store private keys, we do not store metadata beyond what strict transport routing requires. What we don't have, we can't give. That is a mathematical fact, not a policy preference.
Our principles
- Post-quantum by default.Every message, file, document, note and email is encrypted with ML-KEM-768 (FIPS 203), ML-DSA-65 (FIPS 204), and XChaCha20-Poly1305. Calendar events and AI history are not yet inside that envelope, and we say so rather than rounding up.
- Zero-knowledge architecture.Our servers store only ciphertexts they cannot read. Private keys are derived locally on the user's device from secrets only the user controls.
- No backdoor. Ever.We do not implement any technical mechanism that would allow a third party — including uOS itself — to access user content.
- No persistent storage on user devices.Every browser session starts from scratch: IndexedDB and localStorage are wiped at boot. There is nothing to seize.
- European by construction.uOS is built and hosted in Europe. We stay in Europe to defend European digital sovereignty, including against EU regulators who try to break it.
- Transparent by default.When authorities make requests, we will publish what they asked, what we did, and what we refused.
