The contract between you and UltimaOS, in plain English.
These Terms of Service describe the contract between you and the European company that operates UltimaOS. We try to keep the language plain and the obligations clear. By using UltimaOS, you agree to these terms.

You must be at least 16 years old (or the digital consent age in your jurisdiction) to create an account. If you create an account on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.
You agree not to use UltimaOS for illegal activities, to distribute malware, to harass others, or to circumvent the technical measures we use to protect the service. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms, with notice where possible.
UltimaOS is a zero-knowledge service: we cannot read your content. These clauses describe what that means in practice and what we do — and do not do — with what reaches our servers.
You retain all intellectual property rights in the content you create, upload, or store on UltimaOS. We claim no ownership over your messages, files, or other data.
You grant us a limited license to transmit, store, and process your encrypted content as technically necessary to provide the service. This license ends when you delete the content.
The architecture is zero-knowledge. We have no technical ability to read your encrypted content and we make no claim to do so. This is verifiable in the open-source clients.
Because we cannot read your content, the strongest measure available to us is suspending your account. Suspension stops new content from being added; existing encrypted content remains inaccessible without your keys.
Within the limits of applicable law, our liability is limited to the amounts you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We do not exclude liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or death and personal injury where such exclusion is prohibited.
During early access, UltimaOS is free. After paid plans are introduced, refunds will be available on a pro-rata basis within the first 14 days of a billing cycle, unless local consumer law provides a longer period.
You can terminate your account at any time by deleting it from the client. We may terminate or suspend accounts that materially breach these terms, with notice where reasonably possible.
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced at least 30 days in advance. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept the new terms, you can delete your account.
