UltimaOS for Families

Private family workspace — chat, photos and files end-to-end encrypted, shared calendar included.

UltimaOS for families is the same private, post-quantum workspace individuals use — set up as a family seat with a shared photo vault, chat between members and a shared calendar. Your messages, photos and files are end-to-end encrypted, so the server cannot read them; calendar events are not yet encrypted and remain readable server-side.

01 Overview

What this looks like for your family.

01

Private family chat

End-to-end encrypted messaging between family members. Photos, voice messages, file attachments — all encrypted on your devices before they reach the server.

02

Shared family calendar

Events, school schedules, holidays — visible to the family only. Reminders, recurring events, RSVP, all end-to-end encrypted. No third party sees the family schedule.

03

Photos and notes that stay yours

Upload family photos to Files. Write shared notes in Notes or Documents. The server only stores ciphertext; the photos never leave the family.

02 Details

How families use UltimaOS day-to-day.

The same workspace, configured for family life. Each family member has their own account and passkeys; shared spaces appear automatically when invited.

01

Coordinating the week

Parents add school pickup times, extracurricular activities, and work shifts to the shared calendar. Children see what's coming up; nobody sees what should be private.

02

Sharing photos in original quality

Upload a 50-photo album from a birthday party. The whole family sees it in full resolution on their devices, no compression, no metadata stripping, no upload limits beyond storage tier.

03

Storing important documents

Passports, vaccination records, school enrollment forms. Encrypted on each parent's device, replicated across the family's devices, recoverable through the 3-of-5 social recovery scheme.

04

Teaching kids digital privacy

Children learn by example that not every conversation is for a third party to read. UltimaOS makes end-to-end encryption the default, not the exception — a habit that carries into adulthood.

03 Key points

Why families choose UltimaOS.

  1. 01

    No advertising or profiling

Family conversations are not used to train advertising models or build behavioral profiles. There is no business model that would create an incentive to do so.

  2. 02

    EU-only infrastructure

Family data is stored on EU servers. The US CLOUD Act does not apply. There is no transfer outside the European Union, no third-party CDN, no advertising network.

  3. 03

    Post-quantum by default

Family photos taken today have a useful lifetime measured in decades. UltimaOS uses NIST-standardized post-quantum cryptography to protect them against future quantum attacks.

  4. 04

    Affordable pricing

UltimaOS is free for families — permanently, not for a trial period. A family account stays free after early access ends; organizations are what we charge for.

05 Frequently asked

Questions about UltimaOS for families.

How much does UltimaOS cost for a family?

Short answer

UltimaOS is free for individuals and families — permanently. A family seat is just one account: invite family members from inside the workspace. It stays free after early access ends.

Can my grandmother use UltimaOS?

Short answer

Yes. The interface is built around chat and a simple launcher, the way people use messaging apps. There is nothing to install — UltimaOS runs in the browser. The hardest part is the first invite link; once a family member is in, the rest follows naturally.

Can my family share photos in original quality?

Short answer

Yes. Files in UltimaOS are encrypted before upload, then synced across the family. There is no compression, no metadata stripping, no upload limits other than your storage tier.

Is my family's data backed up?

Short answer

Encrypted blobs are stored on EU servers and replicated for redundancy. The encryption keys are derived from each member's passphrase, so backups are useless without those passphrases. We are exploring optional encrypted backups to a user-controlled cold storage.

What if my child loses the device?

Short answer

The encryption key is derived from the passphrase. A new device + passphrase gives access to the same encrypted history. UltimaOS uses social recovery based on Shamir secret sharing, 3-of-5 by default and configurable: a family of 5 can recover access for a member who lost both device and passphrase, requiring three of the five to cooperate.

Can I leave a group chat I no longer want?

Short answer

Yes. You can leave any chat, calendar or board. Your previously-encrypted history remains on the server (so the other participants keep their context), but no new content reaches you.

Can children be added without a phone number?

Short answer

Yes. Account creation on UltimaOS does not require a phone number or email address — just a passphrase and a recovery scheme. Children can be added with a parent-generated invitation.

How do I keep my family safe from phishing?

Short answer

UltimaOS does not use email or SMS for authentication — there is nothing to phish. Invitations are cryptographic tokens that expire and are bound to the recipient's device. There is no password to leak.

Free forever

Free for individuals and families. Forever.

No ads, no data mining, no trial clock. Individual and family accounts are free — permanently. Organisations pay per seat, and that is what funds it.
